Thick plumes of dark smoke and flames devastated the Jebel Ali Port last midnight as a result of flammable substances catching fire inside an oil tanker arriving in Dubai.
Scores of residents from Al Barsha Heights, Jumeirah and Business Bay woke up to a tremor in the wee hours of yesterday night as the inbound oil tanker erupted at the Jebel Ali Port. Teams from Dubai Civil Defence, Dubai Police, Dubai Municipality and various relevant authorities immediately arrived onto the scene to contain the fires.

Within a record 40 minutes, the fires were put off, with Dubai Civil Defence earning praise from Rulers and Ministers. Jebel Ali Port clarified the fires were caused due to the flammable materials and confirmed there were no casualties or any injuries. An “extensive investigation” is ongoing.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, tweeted in praise of all the professionalism shown by Dubai authorities, while His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, made a visit to the Jebel Ali port inspecting the site.
It’s worth mentioning the Government of Dubai Media Office warns residents to refrain from sharing fake news related to the incident.
