Group Of Women Face Imprisonment Over Raunchy Video In Dubai

An extreme case of public indecency ended with the arrest of a group of women who Dubai Police say had “appeared in an indecent video shared online” last weekend.

Some residents in Dubai Marina were taken by surprise seeing a group of women baring it all as they stood outside on a balcony, posing for photos, in what’s touted to be a publicity stunt.

Few onlookers recorded videos of the incident and circulated them around the internet until Dubai Police were alerted about it and registered a criminal case against the women.

As per UAE laws, the group could be faced with two charges, with Article 361 of the Federal Penal Code stating anyone who “engages in lewd speech” could face either six months of prison, a fine of up to AED 5,000, or both, in addition to Article 17 of the UAE cybercrime law claiming an individual who publishes pornographic content on the internet is subject to a fine varying from AED 250,000-500,000.

Given the nature of the incident, UAE residents are advised not to share videos or footage via social media.

This isn’t the first time an incident like this sparked debate. 2018 saw a UK National getting detained for getting naked in a Dubai pub after England qualified for the knock-out stages in the last FIFA World Cup.
