Thousands of UAE citizens and residents are preparing to get vaccinated as Dubai is rolling out a free Pfizer- BioNTech vaccination drive approved by the UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP).
Pfizer-BioNTech’s first batch arrived in Dubai on 22nd December, transported by Emirates’ SkyCargo. It will be available at six Dubai Health Authority (DHA) health facilities, including Zabeel Primary Health Care Centre, Al Mizhar Primary Health Care Centre, Nad Al Hamr Primary Health Care Centre, Barsha Primary Health Care Centre, Uptown Mirdif Medical Fitness Centre and Hatta Hospital.

I would like to thank everyone who has worked unceasingly over the last year to protect the lives of those most vulnerable against the disease. In recognition of their immense contribution for the wellbeing of everyone in the UAE, it has been our honour to transport these vaccines free of charge on our flight.”

DHA says the first phase of the vaccination drive will be allotted to four categories. The first category includes Emiratis and senior residents aged 60 and above, people with chronic diseases and people of determination.
Next up, the second category includes frontliners in the public and private sectors, followed by the third category: vital-sector workers and lastly, the fourth category includes people who wish to get vaccinated.
Within a day since the first batch’s arrival, the first vaccines were injected to an 84-year-old senior citizen, a frontliner from DHA, an Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) driver and a policeman.
