A British real estate agent has been sentenced to five years of imprisonment by Dubai’s Court of First Instance after selling a fake property for AED 7.7 million.
In 2015, a 42-year-old Egyptian businessman met the realtor at an office on Sheikh Zayed Road and was convinced to purchase a property, with an AED 7.7 million price tag. Very little is known about the agent but the real estate company he worked for was quite well-known in the country.

Over the months, the Egyptian expatriate completed his payments and was ready to have the property in his possession. However, it turned out the documents were forged and the paperwork wasn’t legitimate. In 2018, the real estate company told him the project was real but the documents were ‘fake.’ Things got out of hand as the Egyptian businessman came to know the realtor fled out of the UAE.
According to Gulf News, the real estate agent was formerly accused of numerous scams and frauds, inviting dozens of people to invest in his dodgy schemes.
