Sheikh Hamdan Vows To Transform Dubai Into A Bicycle-Friendly City

Dubai is about to get a line-up of cycling tracks across the city, thanks to Sheikh Hamdan’s new initiative to transform the emirate into a bicycle-friendly city.

New cycling tracks coming up in Dubai

Picture this: You work 15-20 minutes away from work. You’re stuck in traffic during peak-hour congestion and you see pedestrians walking down the road quicker than you. Despite changing lanes again and again, you’ve made peace with the fact that there’s no lane that will get you past the signal. By the time you make it home, you’re late for dinner and still have remaining errands to complete.

Well, here’s a breath of fresh air for daily commuters. Crown Prince of Dubai and the man behind Dubai Fitness Challenge, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum rolled a new project to build new cycling tracks in a bid to ease the burden on traffic and encourage a healthy way of living among residents by opting for a bicycle instead of their car wasting fumes in traffic.

Al Qudra has its own cycling track

If adventure and fitness is your thing, chances are you’ve ridden on the Al Qudra cycling track. Unless you’re in the know, it’s an 86-kilometre track featuring a plethora of Arabian wildlife surrounded by sand dunes and dreamy sunsets to look out for. Not to mention the cold breeze, it’s quite an experience to hit the track cycling during the winter season.

Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan’s initiative came hot on the heels off Emir of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum cycling across Mohammed bin Rashid City District One, Downtown Dubai and stopping at the Dubai Water Canal.

Talk about fitness goals!
