It looks like Pakistan is getting its own version of Dubai, after the country’s Tehreek-e-Insaf government confirmed building a city inspired by the emirate in Lahore.
AED 110 billion-worth ‘Dubai-like’ city to be built in Pakistan
A lot of Pakistani expatriates call the UAE their second home, making up 12.69% of our beloved country’s population after India (27.49%). They’ve given us flavourful dishes thanks to restaurants like Ravi and Karachi Darbar, cricketers like Khurram Khan and Amjad Ali, who helped the nation qualify for the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup, and a line-up of businessmen and industrialists who’ve contributed massively to the nation’s economy.

Fun fact, the country also has an airport named after the UAE’s founding father, His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Pakistan’s province of Punjab recently announced allotting 100,000 acres to build the “River Ravi Front Authority,” touted as the “most modern city” in the north of Lahore, taking inspiration from Dubai. It’s estimated the project is worth a whopping 5 Trillion Pakistani Rupees (AED 110b).

That’s even more than the construction cost of iconic projects like Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab, Dubai Frame and the Bluewaters Island!
Meanwhile, it’s worth mentioning a restauranteur in India built an infamous replica of Burj Al Arab. Check it out:
